WHAT IS THE PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION?
The PTA is an organisation committed to the fostering of communication at Hendrik Louw Primary School and enhancing the experience of every parent, teacher and of course child at our beautiful school. Any parent or legal guardian can be part of the PTA.
Being involved in the PTA provides an opportunity to contribute to school functions and fundraisers, allowing you to offer valuable and creative input in activities that your child will be participating in.
WHO IS PART OF THE PTA?
The PTA consists of parent representatives selected from each class. These representatives are chosen by the educator and parents or legal guardians of your child’s class at the beginning of each year.
The class representative acts as a liaison between the class educator and the parents. Their duties include:
- Relaying school communications to parents via a class WhatsApp group.
- To support the school during sports events, revue and fundraising activities.
- To obtain the assistance, ideas and contributions from your class parents for the above.
- To organise a treat for your class educator on his/her birthday along with the help of the parents in your class.
A grade representative, chosen from the class representatives of each grade, oversees the school activities of the specific grade and supports the specific grade’s class representatives and grade head.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
To get involved, please complete the form at the beginning of the year to express your interest in being a class representative.
If you are not selected, you can still participate in the PTA. Projects managed by the PTA greatly benefit from the assistance, ideas and contributions of all parents. We always welcome parental support during sports days for tasks like assisting in the tuck shop or managing the barbecue. Your help and ideas are valuable during game evenings, revue, cake sales, fundraisers and your class educator's birthday.
